What is it?
A biomechanical assessment is a 45min comprehensive lower limb and foot examination. Cost £105.
What happens during an appointment?
During this assessment, your podiatrist will ask you a range of questions to obtain as much information as possible to understand the problem; including your medical and other therapy history, activity levels, timeframe of the pain and where the pain is located. Your podiatrist will then conduct a range of physical tests which examine:
- Stance / standing position
- Walking patten
- Joint range of movement
- Muscle strength/weakness.
These tests show how well your joints and muscles are working together.
- You will then be asked to perform a range of movements on the FootScan. The Footscan is a sophisticated technology that allows us to analyse your gait and foot pressure distribution, helping us to identify potential imbalances or inefficiencies in your walking, running or exercise technique.
Do I need to bring anything to an appointment?
We ask that you bring in your main footwear and any images such as x-ray/ultrasound/MRI that you might've had taken in the last 2 years to help with a diagnosis. Advice will be given on best types of footwear for your biomechanics.
