Lorna is an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist and has experience working within the mental health field in Australia and the UK. Lorna utilises a range of different approaches including person centred, trauma-focused, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic. She supports clients to understand the root cause of their anxiety and provide effective coping strategies including mindfulness based techniques.
Lorna has a particular interest in trauma-focused and somatic therapies, which focus on the connection between the mind and the body. She incorporates trauma-focused techniques to help clients process difficult experiences and rebuild their sense of safety. This can include gradual exposure to work and the development of coping skills.
Her approach is person centred, supportive and non-judgemental and is designed to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Her sessions involve identifying and exploring ways to manage challenging emotions or feelings.
Lorna offers an initial 20-minute phone call consultation. This will provide you with the opportunity to ask any questions about the therapy process and to see how you can work together.

Key therapeutic components:
Person-Centred FoundationThe therapeutic relationship forms the cornerstone of integrative therapy, emphasising empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. This creates a safe, accepting environment where clients can explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment.
Psychodynamic ElementsIntegrative therapy often incorporates psychodynamic principles to help clients understand how unconscious processes and past experiences influence their present behaviour. This profound exploration can lead to significant insights and lasting changes in behaviour and personality.
Cognitive-Behavioral TechniquesCBT components help clients identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours. This structured approach provides practical tools for managing symptoms and developing healthier coping strategies.
